Re: Help Needed for Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Hello All,

If you are a parent of child who is attending Morningside Elementary then you would have received the below email.

However, school is collecting the donations (specifics are in the below email). Amanda from CHNE has volunteered to collect the donations and as she maybe in and out of home as this is weekend, please feel free to drop the donations today at porch of Amanda's house (416 Wiltshire).

Hope we can help the victims of Harvey Hurricane. Thanks in advance.

Best Regards

Dear Morningside Family,

By now, I am sure you have seen the devastation that all the rain from Hurricane Harvey has caused in and around our Houston area.  Many in our community have approached us wanting to help and we have come together with a plan.  Our PTA has made contact with a church near the Houston area and has gathered a list of needs.  If you would like to participate in our community drive we will be collecting items on:

Thursday (tomorrow, Aug. 31) through Saturday, Sept. 2nd, at the following locations - Please text the contact person below before dropping items off at their homes.

Amber Davenport - 972-786-5027 - 6616 Autumn Trail, The Colony

Rachel Doig - 214-475-0219 - 5715 Green Hollow Lane, The Colony

Amanda Jimenez - 817-703-3471 - Castle Hills area - please text for address

Drop off on Sunday will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, in the Morningside parking lot - there will be a trailer, donated for the event by one of our Morningside parents, to hold and ultimately deliver the items on Tuesday of next week.

Below is a list of items that will most benefit the community at this time:

  • Bottled Water
  • Blankets
  • Sleeping Bags
  • Bed Cots
  • New packages of socks and underwear
  • Bar soap
  • Baby diapers
  • Baby wipes
  • Non-Perishable food
  • Cleaning supplies
    • Bleach
    • Trash Bags
    • Brooms
    • Gloves
    • Disinfectant

We will also need help loading items in the trailer and making sure they are in correctly for transport.  If you would like to volunteer to help, we will need people on Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Morningside.  Please see Erik or Amber Davenport when you arrive.

In advance, we appreciate your generosity and willingness to help.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to one of the people listed above or one of your PTA members.

Thank you,

Rachel Doig

PTA, VP of Communications
