Hide and Seek is over, Time to Action...!! :)
Hello All,
Hide and Seek between the cold and warm is over for the season, and the compromise between the seasons (Winter and Spring) is arrived to bring light and heat almost at the doorsteps. Now that, we are almost into Spring, it is time to dust off and enjoy the weather.
Well, talking about the dust off, we (Board of Directors for both 1F and 1G) have been working on getting more amenities to our CHNE neighborhood. I'm referring to Basketball (fenced) and Sand Volleyball courts in the south west of the Pool area where few residents are playing volleyball, the plan is to keep them as much as possible to the south of the pool area. Our current playground has only the amenities for toddlers.
- I have been approached by many parents for more amenities in the neighborhood as kids in the neighborhood is growing and moving their feet on the ground. Kids (from ages 3 - 15) are also showing more interest in to sports (Soccer, Basketball, Football, ..etc) as their school friends are already into it and they are with The Colony city recreation and other programs.
- We (Board of Directors for both 1F and 1G) have approved $100K budget for setting Basketball and Volleyball courts up in the CHNE neighborhood. I have reached out to most of the neighbors who will merely have an impact (especially the hours backing up to this area) and all their acceptance had been passed over to HOA. Now HOA is reviewing this and will be reaching/already reached out to the all the residents (via a letter/email) around the community center area to hear any issues with this.
- As the basketball court would be fenced with 10 feet high, I have merely suggested HOA to have a fob key entry to avoid any misusage, as "all" the residents will have a generic fob key (issued by HOA) to use the gym facility, entry gates,…etc. Also suggested to have security cam placed over this area, as another one is there by the playground on the other side; So the entire play area is covered.
- Just a week ago, one kid from Del Molin street won the Basket Ball Championship Title from the Colony League (of 8 teams) this year. The reason mentioning about this kid was, this is how now parents are promoting their children in to sports. He is the star performer of the team. Congrats to him and his team on this great achievement.!!
- Side Note: Castle Hills North (CHN) neighborhood is ready to setup 2nd Volleyball and 2nd Basketball courts. In fact, major part of CHNE community also contributing the property taxes towards that as 1F district is having parts of CHNE, CHNE and CHW.
This is the time to think and provide your consent based on the need of an improvement in the neighborhood. I must also say that, there will "no" additional penny incurred either from HOA or Resident towards this as district is covering the whole cost in setting up (like yawning on the slides, swings setup).
What's expected is: Your acceptance as a resident to HOA based on the communication only if received from them and Architectural approval from HOA. You do not need to respond to this email communication.
I could probably say at least 30+ boys and girls in all ages (from CHNE neighborhood) are playing aforesaid sports with The Colony Recreation center. I'm sure they are stacking their trophies as well very nicely. This shows how parents are thinking about the younger generations and showing them the way towards sports from the ages of preschooler to grade schooler to teenagers towards the greater activities. Hence neighborhood will be producing more young talent.
Other Improvements in the Planning stage:
- We are thinking of installing additional street lights but yet to identify the locations where it may be needed. And any other additional playground amenities. Happy to hear any suggestions for consolidation.
- Once the annexation to City of Lewisville (COL) is complete, setting up new amenities will be mostly inaccessible.
- (Simple reference., I was speaking to a resident in the Lewisville and they have been working with COL to setup a simple play area as their neighborhood has started with "NO" amenity. It's been 8 years but they probably have gotten a slide set and swing).
- Hence we the board of directors (of Water District) are realizing early to improve amenities in the neighborhood before it is too late. Of course, this is happening across "all" Castle hills areas.
Pls note, Castile hills also have the Sports fields but they are inaccessible for us as we are way far from core Castle hills area.
Whatever the best we could do from Water district is being done, now it is all in the hands of residents around the community center whether "any" or "no" amenity improvements in the neighborhood.
As always, Feel free to reach me out on anything you may be thinking about the community or voice any concerns.
Thanks.
