MOM from 1G Board Meeting on 6/17 and COL quarterly meeting on 6/25

Hello All - Here are the items discussed during the 1G board meeting on 6/17 and COL quarterly meeting for Castlehills on 6/25.

Firstly, would like to congratulate Joel Watson for becoming a boarding member for 1G district.

High level MOM:

  1. 1G Board Meeting
    1. Approved revised Homestead exemptions
      1. Continued to have 20% exemption for all residents
      2. Introduced $20,000 exemption for disabled individuals as a residential homestead
      3. Introduced $60,000 exemption for an individual who is 65 years or older as a residential homestead
    2. Digital Speed limit board is up by the Highwood entrance. This has been installed on the street light pole rather than a separate pole.
  1. City Of Lewisville Quarterly Meeting for Castlehills
    1. 'No U Turn' sign on eastbound Windhaven Pkwy at the median opening near CubeSmart/Life Storage building. The COL traffic department will be placing this request with the City Council meeting in July. (Attached the picture as well)
    2. Discussed about Parks (City managed). So far, COL has identified 35 out of 44 parks which can be potentially owned by COL. The list will be released sometime in Sept/Oct time frame.
    3. As COL has only one library which west of Lewisville, requested again to look into either plan for new library or have partnership with Carrollton library to provide free membership for castlehills residents
    4. Covid-19 Impact: Annexation is delayed by 5 months for now, new dates are looking like Dec'2021. This means, 2021 property tax rate will need to be set by the Water district board and it is going to have a very good impact on the expectations on 1G residents property taxes.

P.S: All the COL items are repetitive asks/requests since the last 10 months.

Best Regards
Gangadhar Kotu
