Meeting with City of Lewisville Police Chief Kevin Deaver - 3/4
All - Here is the MOM from the meeting with Police Chief Kevin Deaver.
Somehow managed to relax time at work and able to meet City of Lewisville Police Chief Kevin Deaver on the Monday 3/4 along with other 3 board members from other boards.
- Interesting facts shared with us and also gave so much confidence in getting this patrol service (On duty officers) from COL as we had an impression that COL is charging double rate comparatively the Castle Hills Patrol (Off duty officers) managed by Water district.
- We (Castle hills) now have a *dedicated* on-duty police patrol officers in the community for 16 hours. This doesn't mean that rest of the hours in a day uncovered, but regular on-duty officers would still be covering the area, this is not part of the SPA though.
- There was post on the Nextdoor couple days ago that 81 tickets were issued in the first 2weeks of Feb.
- However, there are additional things to be noted that what else either Patrol or Police officers covered.
- Main speeding issues
- Windhaven Pkwy (between Josey and Castlehills Dr) - Some drivers always rush on this street though we have installed a digital speed limit board, but people were going on 40 and above, which has caused issuing the tickets. However, some officers didn't issue a ticket even for the speed of 46 in 30 streets, but warned them.
- King Arthur Blvd
- Other types of complaints.

- Parking Violations (PARKING VIOLATION/CITY ORDINANCE)- Note that you have to park your vehicle on the correct side of the street, if you happen to park on the opposite side of the street, you may get a "Parking Violation" tickets. Which includes many from CHNE too.
- Closed Patrol service provided by Police (Link: https://www.cityoflewisville.com/about-us/city-departments/police-department/general-information/request-a-house-watch for requesting online).
- Should you plan for vacation in and around 2 weeks, you may request for a closed patrol service.
- On duty Police officers would keep a watch over your house during the Patrol.
- Additional Staff
- There was a recruitment drive occurred on the same day 3/4 and good no.of candidates attended hence the Department may be having more staff as well.
- Appears to be the minimum pay for the officer is around $60k with benefits and in 5 years it will be around $80k.
- National Night out (6th Aug 2019)
- Another board member Scott is coordinating with Police Chief and COL to arrange a one in our community too.
The plan for having this kind of meeting on monthly basis, and shall be able to share some details. Chief Deaver also offered to meet the residents when any community wide resident meetings / other community gatherings time.
Today the 7th March evening, I have observed that a Patrol officer (or Police officer) was watching over the house on Warwick Blvd and Engleswood Trl. Hope everything was ok or it may be just a closed patrol or false alarm.
Best Regards
