MOM from the 1G water district meeting on 5/16
Hello All,
Here is the MOM from the 1G water district meeting on 5/16.
MOM (as a resident):
- After the elections, New Board members (Scott Stauffer, Steve Jewell & Gangadhar Kotu) are joined the Board Positions.
- Water District would be sending the finalized tax rates and homestead exemptions by the end of July to CAD, so they can issue the FINAL statements in the month of Oct.
- Discussed the Homestead exemption options and approved 10% exemption this year.
- Per State Law, cities would be able to provide up to 20% homestead exemption.
- However the tax rate discussions are to be done in the next couple months, target is to at least reduce couple cents (just a speculation at this moment, actuals yet to come).
- Board should be passing the resolutions during the July'18 meeting. Wish to see resident participation.
- District is now issuing permits for the new apartments (around 340) on 121 Business/FM544, west of Race track.
- This location is sold to another party and the ground work is started.
- Below are some additional properties which would generate the revenue for the district, which would help us look in to reducing the property taxes and increasing the home stead exemptions (Target is 2019).
- Crown center - Utility work is almost complete but office space and retail permits may be requested next year, so additional revenue in the district. Bright Reality is planning for a Value office type here so to attract the area for Business.
- Other properties in the ALDI complex is already generating some revenue, with ALDI additional revenue would be added.
- If the apartments on SH121 business is ready to occupy by mid or end of next year then this revenue would be additional.
- District is looking to start a new service of performing Health inspections for the restaurants with the district jurisdiction, hence writing an agreement with a 3rd party consultant. This would also generate some $$ across all the districts.
- Discussed about installing couple trees in the green belt between 116 Wiltshire and 200 Wiltshire Blvd, District is positive on doing something about it. Will keep you posted when we have an update.
- This was a topic on WhatsApp communication in the past.
- Others - As communicated in the prior MOMs:
- Brights are planning for the town houses (2nd and 3rd floors) and first floor will be the shops/restaurants on the west side of Castlehills drive.
- East side of Castlehills, there will be apartments as part of the Realm.
- This would generate more revenue for 1F.
Whenever the official MOM is available, will be able to share on the CHNE group email.
